Industry veteran. ICON. Living legend. These are a few words used to describe Charita Brittenum, a 30 + year veteran of the Music Business. Her first job at a radio station in Memphis, TN where she was born, solidified what would not only be the path in her career but also served as the fulfillment of a dream from childhood. During her tenure at the radio station, representatives from all of the different record companies came into the station to meet with the Program and Music Directors. Her interest was sparked immediately.
A graduate of Texas Southern University, Charita has a BS in Fashion Merchandising. Charita has worked for Sony Music Entertainment, Inc., for the past 26 years. She spent 14 years with Epic, Columbia Records, and Sony Urban Music. She also did short stints at Geffen Records and Interscope Records under Universal Music Group, and E1 Entertainment. Throughout her career, Charita has worked with some of the biggest stars on the planet such as Michael Jackson, PRINCE, Luther Vandross, SADE, and Babyface. Beyonce, John Legend, Jill Scott, NAS, JLO, Mary J Blige, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Usher, Chris Brown, BowWow, B2K, Fantasia, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Charlie Wilson, Anthony Hamilton, Miguel, Jazmine Sullivan and newer stars such as H.E.R, SZA, TEMS, Wizkid, DAVIDO, Bryson Tiller, KHALID, Childish Gambino, Ro James, LATTO and Nardo Wick.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, such as Promotion Person of the Year for several years running from BRE, Impact, and Promotions Executive of the Year for NABFEME. She has also been awarded several Outstanding Achievement awards from the Atlanta Sony Music Branch Office. In 2016, she received an ICON award from the Writing Sessions of America –Atlanta Chapter, and in 2018 Charita was chosen as an ASCAP, “Women BEHIND THE MUSIC.”
Charita currently serves as Director Of Urban Radio Promotions- Atlanta; the State of Florida, Charlotte & All of South Carolina for RCA RECORDS – A Division of Sony Music Entertainment, Inc.
Charita attends Zion Baptist Church of Marietta where she has been a member for the past 20 years, sings in their Mass Choir, and is the proud mom to her daughter Sydney.
